Apple & Blackcurrant Crumble

1kg Bramley apples (or another cooking variety)
100g blackcurrants
4 Tbsp white sugar
For crumble:
500g plain flour
75g butter
100g demarara sugar


  • Peel chop, and core apples into large pieces. Place in a large overproof dish about 2cm below the top edges
  • Scatter the blackcurrants over the apples then sweeten with sugar
  • Blend all the crumble ingredients together and spread over the fruit mix - don't worry about spreading evenly
  • Bake in the oven at 180°C or Gas mark 4 for about 30 minutes or until red juices begin to bubble through crumble.  

Serves 4-6
